Activity Providers
The g2g Card uses Merchant Category Codes (MCCs) to distinguish between providers where the card will work, and those where the card will be declined. MCCs are codes that the bankcard industry uses to classify business types. MCCs are assigned by the bank when the supplier starts to accept card payments and are based on the primary line of business. For example if you are a public golf course, your MMC will be 7922; if there is a bar or restaurant in the golf club then the MCC 5812 is used. The g2g Card would pay for the round of golf because it recognises MCC 7922 but would not work in the bar because MCC 5812 is barred from the card.
The beauty of running our activity card in this way is that many activities that young people want to do already accept Maestro™ payments. We do not need to kit you out with bespoke card readers or train your administration staff in a new invoicing or payment system; you are ready to go! Further benefits to young people are that it looks like a normal bank card, thus removing any stigma and provides protection against fraud and misuse through chip and PIN technology.
We hope you will support our endeavours to get more young people into positive activities, take this opportunity to earn additional revenue from the scheme and raise your own profile in the community. Our card should work in any provider that has an MCC in the following list. If you would like to be part of this scheme and ensure that you are listed in our young people's information leaflet, we would like you to complete the following form. We also acknowledge that some activity providers will not have card reading equipment. If this is the case we have a solution that would enable young people to produce a Cambridgeshire County Council cheque for activities, perhaps on a term or year based subscription. If this is the case, please complete the relevant section of the form, indicating you would be willing to participate.
